Sun Trip 2020

A new year begins, full of projects. For some of us, it’s already time to prepare for the famous Sun Trip 2020.
The Sun Trip is a race by electric bikes only powered by solar pannels. The road goes from Lyon, in France, to Guangzhou, in China along the old silk roads. Each contestant chooses his own route and just needs to pass by the Tibetan plateau for those who’re willing to win the solar challenge.
Each year, some Aevon bike trailers are on the starting line. During the last edition, you met Eymeric and Jack Butler. Jack won the price of the jury thanks to his communication during this amazing bike trip.
This year, we would like to introduce our first adventurer, Yannick :
Yannick is a French engineer who currently works in Lisbon, Portugal. He has good mechanical and technical skills and also speaks Chinese, which might be very useful for the trip.
For this project, he has decided to leave with his recumbent bike Nazca. He will adapt a classical seat post on the frame of the bike, so he can attach the single wheel trailer STD 100 behind his bike.
Aevon bike trailers are a strategic choice for this kind of trip because their aluminium frames enable them to resist the mechanical pressures along the way. The roads are not always negotiable, sometimes there aren’t even roads to speak of. You also need to take into account the weather, the tiredness and the potential mechanical worries.
Yannick’s goal: to get to Guangzhou !

If you aren’t an official contestant but you’d like to take part in the adventure, find the departure village of the Sun Trip in Lyon from May 28th to May 30th. The departure will be on May 30th.
If you like to cycle, you can cycle with the contestants on the first 100km between Aix-Les-Bains and Albertville on May 31st. The atmosphere is always very special there.
