From Sweden to Finland

16 October 2019 | By |

This summer, Nicolas went on a bike trip to Sweden and Finland with his MTB and KIT L80 bike trailer. We followed him on his way.

bike trip
In the direction of Stockholm, the tracks were not always passable with a MTB, our cyclist essentially cycled on roads.

This single track of a few miles deserved a picture :
Sweden

Upon his arrival in the Swedish capital, Nicolas noticed a parking area on an island close to the old part of the town. Clean and quiet, there was a nice watering place and a lawn. After visiting Stockholm for a day, Nicolas took the ferry in the direction of Finland.

At this point, he had cycled for 11 days in Sweden with an amazing variety of landscapes : forest, hills, lakes and the Baltic coast.

At 10pm on the ferry leaving Sweden, Nicolas caught sight of this beautiful sunset :
bike trailer

The road to Finland started under the rain. “The first miles to get out of town are very nice, with a track along a river and a first place to stay for the night along a lake with many birds set up on small islands.”

He then cycled in the direction of the city of Tampere at 170km further North.
There are no hills, only forests, fiels and racing stables.”

bike trip

Nicolas tried to follow the ‘hiking’ route registered on his app and stumbled upon areas where the trees were being cut. It was hard to find a way by bike with the boughs on the ground and the ruts made by the vehicles.
Tired, the cyclist set up camp on a small patch of land with access to a lake.

The day after, he ended up his trip at Tampere and stopped along the lake Näsijärvi. It was the perfect time to use his kayak again.

This first part of the trip in Finland wasn’t that interesting. Examining the rest of the itinerary, Nicolas found that the only way to cross the lake region was by the road.
So he decided to take the train to reach the East of the country.

Carrying my paddleboard on my Aevon trailer

23 September 2019 | By |

Koen lives in Belgium. Happy owner of a paddle board, he needed to find a way to carry it on his KIT L80 Aevon trailer.
With a friend they launched into the project of conceiving a paddle-stand for bike trailer.

I had the impulsive idea of buying myself a paddle board… Nice, but not so easy to carry around. Luckily, I had this fantastic KIT L80 trailer that seemed perfectly suited to carry a paddle-board. So a friend and I began thinking of a home-made paddle stand.

Luckily my dear friend has crazy insight and saw it straight away, while I was seeing so much different options. We set up a triangular system and put it highly enough on the rear part of the trailer so the paddle would be at the same level all along.

bike
The rest was already on the trailer and we just had to help ourselves. We used the fixing holes already present on the rear of the trailer to fix the triangle.

bike trailer
To thighten the board to the trailer I got old innertubes from bikes.
The front bar is a tube welded to a steel bar with hooks.

paddleboard
To improve the system, I’m thinking of adding some foam on the frame of the trailer. I would also like to find a way to prevent damage on the fixing holes.

Now I can carry my paddle, but also my planks, bikes, windows, a mattress… you name it !

Has anyone already thoughy of transforming his bike trailer to carry firewood ? That would be the next project 🙂 !”

Many of you transform Aevon trailers to adapt them to your own use, to carry material or even your pets.
We are used to seeing bike trailers adapted to carry solar panels for travellers who leave for several months.

Tell us how you adapted your own trailer, we’re happy to share it here !

Travelling in France with a KIT L80

4 June 2019 | By |

Philippe Calas just published his bike trip guide : “From Royan to Toulouse“, Rando éditions. Guess what : one of the main characters is the KIT L80 trailer.
bike trip

From Bordeaux to Agen, this bike trip can be done in 5 to 10 days depending on your physical condition. The author also gives you a few day additional day trips to discover the Gironde estuary, the bassin d’Arcachon, the vineyards around St Emilion or the city of Montauban.

The Arcachon tour will take you from Lacanau to the Cap-Ferret, then you will cross the estuary by boat to Arcachon before getting back on your bike and finding the numerous cycling paths that will bring you back to Lacanau. This very pleasant journey is about 140km.

Don’t miss the day trip to St Emilion to visit the biggest underground church in Europe, built in a single rock.

The KIT L80 : best trailer worldwide !

22 May 2015 | By |

For their special edition, the magazine Carnets d’Aventure, specialized in non-motorized trips, has tested 10x bike trailers from different brands.

Strength, handling, riding comfort, volume and weight were the main criteria.

The KIT L80 gets the best rating thanks to its excellent behaviour in cross country use, its strength, its weight and the hitch on the seat post.
The only failing could be that it’s not the easiest to set up.

The KIT L80 is the only bike trailer, worldwide, which is made in aluminium and can be folded. You can easily bring it with you in your trips around the world.

Now it also exists as an electric trailer 250w !

27 July 2013 | By |

We are happy to announce a new partnership between Virgile Charlot and Aevon!
In fact, it is already the second partnership between Aevon and Virgile. In 2010, Aevon lent Virgile a single-wheel trailer STD 120 to cross Africa by bike. During his first trip, the STD 120 proved to be extremely robust.

For this new journey, that will last 18 months, Virgile will be equipped with a Kit L80, a lighter and completely foldable. Marion, Virgile’s girlfriend, will use bags on the luggage rack.

Virgile about his new project:
“The project Pignons Voyageurs Aux Amériques is a bike trip of 28.000 particularly hard kilometers, as a couple, on the American continent that will last 18 months. Crossing America from North to South, we will use forgotten routes, mystic and legendary trails. Our goal is to use as many small trails as possible and to avoid big roads, always with the idea to meet the people that use those trails every day for work orout of love for their land and traditions: watchmen, fishermen, truck drivers on frozen rivers, farmers, artists, restaurant owners, craftsmen, musicians etc.
